About Me

I’m captivated by bold colors, whimsical characters, and pretty places. I think visible streaks in paint strokes are yummy so I usually avoid over-blending and paint with a dirty brush (my made up term for moving from one color to the next without cleaning my brush between colors). I aim for pleasing lines and a sense of simplicity, allowing emotion (rather than detail) to fill in the blanks. My goal is to share the joy I feel as wet paint transforms a blank canvas and a new friend appears.

I’ve long been an art admirer and photographer. In November 2016, as a way to escape from crazy-making political news, I started painting. To learn how to paint, I took a couple of classes, watched umpteen Youtube videos, and studied bazillions of images on Pinterest. I experiment, I play. I get so absorbed in painting that overwhelming peace crowds out any yucky news of the day.
When I’m not wearing my artist smock, I’m a mom, wife, sister, small business owner, dog and bird keeper, and international home and pet sitter. I enjoy gardening, dog training, playing marimba, photography, writing, traveling, museums, street fairs and nature walks.
